Having given himself to prayer and to seeking the Lord, Nehemiah now moves on to asking the King of Persia for the unthinkable. He needs to ask to be released from his service to go to Jerusalem and to rebuild the walls that had been left broken on purpose. How would the king respond? Exactly the way God had prepared his heart to respond.
